Sooooooo... I have officially run out of propane.  More specifically my tanks need to be recertified.  This occurs every 12 years... hard to believe that I have been running it that long.  I am going to see what it costs for recert vs replacement - may just go from a 5lb tank to a 33.5lb horizontal mount.  Or just stick with alky and move the propane into another project...

Hydrostatic testing isn't cheap...  Probably cost effective to go to one of those propane rental places and turn yours in for a full one with a good test date

The only problem is that the 5lb tanks I use are like hen's teeth... it is only about $300 to upgrade to an aluminum horizontal tank with the mounting clamps.  Would be pretty trick to run propane with a high compression N/A LS-engine.

Yep... all in the US. Up here we pay twice that price for a new tank, and it is unlikely it can be exchanged.  If I am going state-side to pick one up, it is going to be an upgrade.

Right now I am fine driving the car with the boost/timing turned down on just an old SMC alky kit filled with E85.  The wagon is eating up all of my play money anyway... lol.

Ha!  Actually I do all my own parts runs now.  If things line up, I may have a solution in hand by early August. ;)

So rather than fiddling with the wagon I took it upon myself last night to prep the Buick for a little family outing to the local car show tonight.  Interestingly enough it was about a year ago that I last took Tatiana to the car show, only this time she brought her own ride... after hitching a ride in Daddy's.

topped it off with gas and added fuel stabilizer, took it through the touchless car wash, and tossed a cover on it... all just before it started snowing.

Well since it isn't moving quickly (duh, it is Winter).  I've decided to start de-modding the car.

I'll be switching it back to stockish by:
- Adding A/C (parts are waiting);
- Pulling the MAFT Pro and friends (ie. 83lb/hr injectors, modified ECM, WB02, transducers, etc) and going back to a NBO2 and chip set up (might even run a Thrasher 92 chip and stock injectors) - gonna need a basic MAFT to run the LS1/LS2/LS6 MAFs I have kicking around;
- Yanking the TH400 and switching back to a 200-4R (from the Monte);
- No more propane since the tanks have expired;
- Off come the Simmons, on go whatever I can find in a 15" rim;
- Turbo and FMIC will be coming off, and put stock parts in their place;
- I am going to have to re-source a stock DP and elbow and do something about the 4" exhaust on the car too;
- The suspension and brakes will go back to stock-like too since most of that is laying around here; and
- I may even cut out the roll bar, or at least modify the harness bar to be more family friendly.

Other than that a general clean up will occur - it may be more marketable too.

I'd like to put the fuel system back to stock too... but, that could be a headache in its own right.

probably the day after you finally sell it, the guy that buys it will be on one of the boards asking about upgrading everything you had already had done and then undone.    Everyone wants to buy a stock one, but no one wants to drive a stock one.   People are weird.

Yeah, that is how I hope to make some of the financial difference.  I've had offers of about $3000 just for the wheels.

It is very annoying - I purposely bought my car because it had a rollbar and serious fuel system. But, it had no engine and got a stock one out of another car - and it was a process to get it into the 11s.  Fun sure - but a process.
