Oh! And COA #2 worked! It shook itself loose/free today... is there nothing the Buick "shaker V6" can't do?

Just curious.

Does anyone know why my cruise control is surging?

The manifold pressure/vac reading is steady, the signal to the VSS is smooth, AFR doesn't seem to be hunting around too much, nothing is in the way of the cable, linkage or throttle... and holding the throttle manually at speed presents a smooth drive. Yet, if I engage the cruise control it starts to act up, and surge ever so slightly.

Your thoughts?

Amazing insight there, AJ.

 :icon_lol:

LOL

Had to run and did not have time to say what I thought, so hit enter and ran.

Have seen this happen with a leaky bladder/servo. Not sure that is you issue as you have steady vacuum.

AJ have you spent any time looking at the module?  I would have thought it was an analog
thingy but it has an xtal on it so guessing there's a processor.

Leaky vac makes sense, keeps trying to correct for it.

nah was to lazy to bother since I could grab one at t he wreckers for cheap.

I think I may still have a few here. I will have a look and see, might be able to send one your way. ( no promise; I will look tomorrow, I do know there are two in pieces and I think two complete but do not recall the condition of them)

I'll do some poking around, and I believe I have a spare cruise setup(?) somewhere in the garage.

Still waiting on getting to the cruise control issue... although I did notice some slack in the cable and tightened it up at the diaphragm.

In other news, and I need some opinions here, I just spent the day centering my steering wheel - which has been off to the right since I fixed my alignment last Spring. I had to add almost a half-inch to the tie-rod assembly on the PS side in order to get it straight. Adding and subtracting equal amounts did nothing to improve the situation. That means that the PS is now at 18.5" and the DS is 18.0" - am I bat shit crazy or does something seem off here?

I heard rumours that my car had seen a crash, but nothing confirmed. As well I know that the engine is offset to the PS by about 1/2" from the factory and God only know what the allowable specs for chassis variance were in 1987.

Anyway I am set to 0* toe right now and am going to take it down the road to see if it is a baked set up and if it is going to dog-track.
