LOL... no Natasha wasn't there. Her racing season is done due to the Camaro being wrecked and being in the early stages of pregnancy. So hanging out in the heat and humidity is a no go.

This Winter's project... build a TH400. Why? Why not!?!

Seriously though I just want a more effective transmission for Auto-X - engine braking in gear is a must with a car this friggin' heavy. This core was $200 CDN, so not a bad deal so far (until I open it).

According to this (http://books.google.ca/books?id=KKPcTD4nxBsC&printsec=frontcover&dq=How+to+Work+with+and+Modify+the+Turbo+Hydra-Matic+400+Transmission++By+Ron+Sessions&source=bl&ots=CiIadUt0vq&sig=b1ytyjXFnumVIrNZVvOjn_2JQ0I&hl=en&ei=kri3S5CUNaT4MoL1ueEL&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false) it came out of a '68 full size Buick with a 430.

Picked up a few pointers here: http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=480495

The 400 is a pretty simple, but heavy, tranny.  Long ago, I built my first one with a B&M Transkit.  Later I converted it to a switchpitch.   Last I heard it had over 30 years on it and was still running.  There must be a jillion versions of them out there today.  Keep it clean and check the clearances and it will be hard to go wrong on.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

I am hoping that with enough rollerized updates this will be a nice piece to replace the TH400 already in the car.

My best friend's daughter, my pseudo-niece, turns one in just a few days. This past weekend we made a trip down to see friends and family and as part of the trip we hooked little Neha up with a pimped out Princess Cozy Coupe for this very special occasion. Natasha put me up to using all the stickers I picked up while on the Power Tour, among many others I had laying around, and let me tell you applying stickers to convex and concave forms are a bitch to do. But, she is worth the effort.

Oh, I should add that I put the grille back in my car. After the last auto-x (2-3 weeks ago) I got home to find the grille sagging in the header panel. I left it like that and haven't driven the car since (various reasons including disgust).

The car is now ready to be raced again this weekend.
