My "All About My Buick" Thread
« on: June 07 2011, 08:40:17 PM »
Per Steve Wood's advice I am starting my very own thread about my very odd Buick Turbo T (aka. The White Elephant). Here's a build thread on another site: http://www.xceedspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183420 ; you may have to join to see the attachments.

Current mods include (but, are not limited to) the following very financially draining list of parts:

Stock LC2, MAFT Pro (in SD) w/Caspers PnP Harness, Extender Pro, LC-1, PL, EGT Amp, Hi-Boost Solenoid, Oil & Fuel Pressure Transducers, PowerPlate, T63E, Low-Z 83pph Injs, FMIC w/2.5" Pipes, 4" "MAF" Pipe, 3" DP & 4" Single Exhaust, LT1 Starter, Dual Pumps, ProPain/Alky/N2O Injection, TH400 w/3300 Stall, Transbrake & Trans-cooler w/Fan, 3" Chrome-moly DS, Metco Loop, 8.5" w/Welded Axle Tubes, Long Studs & 3.08s, 12" 1LE & LS1 Disc Brakes F/R, Tubular/Boxed UCAs/LCAs F&R, 36mm 1LE & 24mm Hellwig Sways, 6pt Rollbar, Chassis Braces, Bilstein/KYB F/R, 800lb/in & 200lb/in Springs F/R, Simmons FR17 17x9.5 w/275/40s & 17x11 w/315/35 NT05Rs & an HKS SSQV BOV... blah... blah... blah.

My current projects include adding alky injection (almost complete) and nitrous injection (Bob Bailey is working on a MAFT Pro trigger for me for this).

Lastly, here is an awesome HD video of the car on an auto-x course with the ECM stuck in "Valet Mode"... It was like having half of 150hp.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Thanks, gents!

I'll grab some fresh underhood shots when I get home. I just repainted the upper rad support so it is far less embarassing to pop the hood in public now.

And, yes Charlie I referenced your photo as it spelled out the advantages of moving to the chassis/axle mount swaybar.

Glad I could help Mike but some of the mods are exclusive so I won't be showing all of them. :D

Pardon the lack of updates... I will say this: don't get married because it eats up all your time. 6 days until she's all mine. ;)

Expect to see the Buick in some of the wedding photos. :D

We'll I am married now...

I drove the Buick over 400 miles round trip to get it in a handful of photos; not a bad way to spend $120 on gas and 6 painful hours in an uncomfortable death trap. ;)

Once the pics start rolling in from either the photographer or our friends/family I'll be sure to share them.

Underhood and wedding pics this ain't; but it is still something to behold:

I literally pulled the Buick out of the garage after sitting for two weeks this morning. Having only checking the tire pressure, oil and tranny fluid levels before stomping the living crap out of this thing. :D

My Monte Carlo is a POS from the perspective of handling. Stock for stock the 1980's Turbo Regal is no better or worse than a 1980's Monte Carlo. They both handled like dump trucks off the showroom floor; and even with extensive modifications there is no way on God's green Earth are they comparable to a Corvette built in the last 30 years. Also, simply buying suspension crap and slapping it on a G-body isn't going to make it an instant performer... ultimately that will be dictated by the driver who must being intimate with the platform.

Yeah, that's the wife's cute little nose. Natasha is getting better with her camera work.
