A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Why?  I don't recall seeing anything out of date.  Torque specs don't get "old".

I think I bought that book when I first bought my car in '98...and I don't think I've opened it since.

It is ok to read through once but the shop manual is much better.

It wasn't meant to replace the shop manual, it was meant to be a handy referance manual, with info on commonly needed info.
Especially for those that don't have the shop manual.

I purchased many of Kirbans books for sale many years back & the only one I used a lot when needing part numbers for engine etc. was the Facts & Figures by Steven L Dove.
I used it often at the dealership for part numbers & general info. I have 3 others here that never got more than 5 mins reading each. including the 2nd book by Steven L Dove.
I think he passed away??
The window rattle booklet is also handy to have. I believe thats from Pete Hoffman.
Maybe one year I'll fix that passenger window motor that takes 5 mins to close!

Pete Serio did the rattle book- that's not a bad guide for the first-timer.

The adjustments do become somewhat apparent when you really stop
to think about it.
