combinations and tuning
« on: April 09 2011, 07:38:10 PM »
I merged some stuff together on the Combinations section of my site and also linked up the Tuning section.,

I am still struggling with Tuning....in the simplest form, assuming that the car is running correctly, it comes down to running as much boost as possible with as much timing as possible while using the leanest possible air/fuel ratio while being sure there is no timing retard due to detonation being incurred.

I think that is basically what most people want and many are confident they don't have any detonation because they would hear it if there was any.   Yet the bearings, ring lands, etc are hammered when they show pictures of their torn down engines.....go figure...yeah, we don't need no steekin' scantools cause we got ears.... :supz:

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

The biggest issue I see at the shop is cars running incorrectly. When these cars show up at the shop...tuning is way down the list of priorities. Thanks for everything you do tho Steve. I'm very appreciative.

yep...if they ran right, they would run much better...most of the logs we see published usually indicate some problem.

I have a lot of proof reading to do because I tried to use some stuff I had written before that may be out of date...or I just never read it  :D

might as well laugh about it....crying did not help! :D  I am limping pretty good but can make it to the shop.

I don't think this one is broken...I had already broken the other one and forever ruined the nail a few years back in a karate tournament.

I hacked at the tuning section again this morning...thre w out some old stuff and tried to update it a bit....got some more ideas but, I get to going in circles after a bit.

I am trying to do it ala An idiots guide...but I can never get it dumb enuf

After 25 years of Buicks, it all seems too simple to me and I find it hard to go thru the thought process.

heck, at my age, I cannot go thru any thought process...even simple ones like buy milk when you buy Oreos
