I really liked this stuff but its a huge pain in the ass to get for me. Whats a good substitute, 10W40 prefered.

my motor had a loud tick ( no header cracks) and I went from mobil 1 to Valvoline to this stuff and with this the tick seemed to be reduced quite a bit. Maybe its in my head but I hated the ticking and this helped. Just wondered if there was a more readily avaliable oil that might have some of the same properties??

The only thing I think could stop a tick like that would be a thicker viscosity - have you ever tried 15w40? Like a Rotella? From what I can see on the Brad Penn - it's basically a racing oil with high ZDDP

The best solution would be to track down and repair the ticking sound, of course. :)

yeah, I've spent 2 years trying to find this tick, Short of taking the whole motor apart I've given up! Thats why I liked this oil. would the heavy ZDDP content help with the ticking. I'm guessing from my reading that on  the # 3 cylinder the cam lobes are worn and its coming from that but I'm probably way off. Its a slight ticking but I'm pretty picky and it bugs me

Did you scope the engine?

Is it cold and warm tick ? Is it louder on start up?

Is it front or back left or right top or bottom?

How many miles on it? Is it a rebuild if so when?

Is the tick a scratchy tick or a tapping tick?

Did it just start to do this or was it a gradual thing.

Just looking to help out.

I have Brad Penn in my pickup truck, local mechanic was using it as bulk oil!.
I said WTF!! and told him about the oil. :)
