If the US did that to the rest of the world in the 1800's none of us would be here today. My Italian grandmother came over 1900 and died in the 1960's and the only english she spoke was food related. Problem is the undocumented visitors and not paying taxes.

I believe we should take it a step further and force those in our country who speak with an accent to shed it. You hear me, Everyone Down South? You sound like damned fools. 'Course, I grew up in the country's largest dialect region.

I just ate at a new peruvian restaurant that all the workers are new to this country. They speak good english and spell better then most on this board :rolleyes:
Heck when I lived in Holland I learned to speak Dutch...even though English was a second language to the Dutch,,,when I went to France I spoke French,,,when in Mexico I speak Spanish...kind a freaks them out when a gringo comments on the crap they speak towards foreigners oh I speak a little German too
