Nationwide vs Sprint Cup

I am getting to where I enjoy the Nationwide races more than I do the cup races.

Damn Kyle Busch can drive a car.

Which racetrack is the one near Ft. Worth? Texas Motor Speedway or whatever. Passed by that place a few weeks back and couldn't believe the size of the place.

I like an occasional NASCAR race - preferably Watkins Glen or Infineon where they have to take right turns too.

I went to one race before, Homestead - never again.

Cool experience, but you can't beat watching it on a big LCD.

You need to come to one of the race weekends. Talk about a circus. You don't need to go to the races but just spend time in the camping area, especially after dark. :supz: Just about anything goes on and you can join in if you're careful. :finga:

We used to have a spot in Daytona in the secure motorhome area, 2years in a row. Ist time we went, 7 guys, unsupervised, took turns driving. Stopped off at the beach, the guard said the motorhome had to be less than 31', we told him lucky us, it's 31' (acutally 33). We drove the motorhome right on the beach and hungout all afternnon. Got to the track and setup, the infield turns into sin city when the sun goes down. What an experience. You're right Steve, I enjoy the NW series, we're not that far from Dover, we catch the NW race every year but not the Cup race. I like the points change this year where the Cup guys can't get NW points.

Taylor and I went to the first race when it opened up.  It rained, there was no parking, and it took forever after the race riding around on a bus to find which road we had parked our car along side...but we had a lot of company.

nascar, like other sports, has priced itself out of the average fans ability to pay, I think

Just look at all the empty seats on Cup day. I think the Car of tomorrow is the last straw. NASCAR was built on the premise: what wins on Sunday sells on Monday.

I hate to say it,but maybe it is time to slow the cars down and add some individuality to them.  Safety is paramount, but, I want to see some racing.  DW was raving about how good Daytona was, and I thought how boring it was watching two car pairs circle the track.

Seeing half the field being eliminated from a chance to win thru wrecks is no fun.  Some of these younger guys, and maybe old too, need to quit driving like the 10th lap is the last lap....

cars are too unstable when someone gets close....maybe slow them down a bit so they are not quite on the ragged edge?  Like I said, the Nationwide race was better

One of the issues with all of these stadium sports (NFL, NASCAR, etc) is that they are losing many viewers to large screen panel TV's - many (like me) prefer sitting at home watching it instead of the expense and time needed to sit 1/4 mile away and hope to catch a glimpse of something interesting. Most watch the huge TV screens at the events anyway.

I am with you.  There is nothing like the feel of a billion hp going by you.  It puts the Coors Light Express to shame...but, if you want to see what is going on, then a big screen tv, a good surround sound system, and a recliner with heat and massage built it, is much better due to all the replays and angles that cannot be seen live at the event.  

Then add the cost of parking, tickets, food, etc., and people are not going to routinely go just for the atmosphere.

I would much rather go to a short dirt track race and watch some excitement, then go home and not have to apply for a social security increase

Unless you in the private boxes in the pit area like I was at the 1st Toronto street race the big sceens get all the action, so just stay home & get a good view!
I like Formula 1 but they seem to have taken all the fun out of that.
Nascar needs to either go slower or go faster without restrictions but this 2 by 2 racing is boring. I say let them go as fast as they can & see who has the balls to hang on like that!
I still think 24 hours of LeMans is the best racing by far. Those guys have guts & can really drive a car!! Not just round & round a few hours. But with LeMans you have to follow the race to really get the feel. I would love to camp out for that race!! I bet they Have FUN in the Night!!  :evil;
