That's a pretty neat motor. I just sent it to a friend of mine who is a diesel freak.
87 Turbo T - 4.1 484 block bored .030 over, Champion ported irons with ported intake, RJC power plate, Elgin 214/224 cam, 6776 turbo with RJC boost controller, stretched SLIC, 3\" THDP, Pypes dual exhaust, 4\" MAF pipe with 14\" K&N and Z06 MAF, 60# Mototrons, hot wired Walbro 340 with KB-BAP, Translator Gen 2 and Extender Extreme chip, Mike Kurtz built 200-4r, PPC 3200 stall, UMI upper and lower control arms, passenger side airbag, any hydroboosted.

20# Boost at 20* timing on 93 octane. No track times yet.

Alky install in progress.

Buddy of mine had a big fishing charter boat with 2 Detroit 24 cyl  turbocharged engines that ran flawess. When he sold it the hours to mileage was over a million miles. I did some minor work on it like filters and salt damaged wiring.

they will not die ed.. they'll leak oil all over the place but will not die.  there was a old story that a sub with a old detroit sank. they went years after to get it and it was still running. again.. its a old story but i dont know how true it is.

Yeah, I wonder how much parasitic loss those impose.  I'd bet it could be turbo'd with better results.
