Funny Gun Chat On Skype

I was chatting on Skype with TSMGirl a little while ago. We were talking about areas of the country where we'd like to live, etc. Anyway, we start talking about the west and end up on firearms. I think this little discussion will make you laugh. See how far in you get before you see what's going on. (I've obviously edited a few parts to eliminate personal info)

Let us talk energy.....

9mm 115gr @ 1020fps = 219 lb ft

.45 117gr @ 1450 fps = 546 lb ft

Or the more traditional .45 230gr @ 950fps = 460 lb ft

That is more than twice the energy. Now the depth of penetration will be similar (within 1/2") but the area affected by the entrance of the bullet (wound area) is greater with the .45.

If you are worried about capacity, get a bigger clip. There are 10 and 15 round clips available for the 1911 pistol.
