A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

although I agree to states rights in general...ther e should be a Nationalized Educational standard...I was lucky to graduate from the IL School system...but my sister had to graduate under the NJ system and and to take extra courses. What you have in KY to graduate may not be the same in CA...same with driver license but that is another issue... case in point...Ian is in 5th grade...has a new teacher...not tenured...repl acing a tenured teacher...how could give 2 shits as to how he is doing.... missing assignments... Ian does not bring it home so we have no idea it is missing...this not is only in his case but the whole class...why... because the tenured teacher knows Ian will not be left behind...even though we threaten that...but the non-tenured teacher who is full of spice and vinegar want them to not only pass but excel...and in the 2 weeks she took over we have had phone calls and e-mails to help us and Ian out....pay for performance would be a huge step...then maybe 80% of my real estate taxes wont go to Education..

sounds good except for the fact that the federal government is incapable of running anything.  Given the agenda of the NEA, the format would get even worse.  The educational system today appears to be aimed at the mediocre rather than the outstanding, and it spends way too much time imposing social ideals as oppposed to scholastic.

Public education used to be about education. Now it's social engineering and tax-paid babysitting.

And that right there folks is what is wrong with our educational system.

My girlfriend here in ontario is a highschool art teacher.  She finds because of the basically no fail policy getting kids to do anything or bother to hand anything in is a huge hassle.   Their is almost no penalty anymore for handing things in late.  If she fails someone she gets in trouble. I'm young and I think our future is fucked.   I have a few other friends that are "teachers" and it scares me they are "training" kids.   My friends and I convinced one of them once that when we were at my cottage we were in a different time zone.  It was an hour north of my house in the same province.   Fucking frightening.

I can't wait for the day I call UPS to ship something and the shipping guy on the phone replies, "we'll send someone maybe this week to pick it up"  Sure, who cares?  Deadlines don't matter.
