Nothing Wrong with our Education System
« on: January 09 2011, 12:12:00 PM »
Before we try to fix education, perhaps we should just eliminate all the failures of the system from the population.  That way, we will not need very many real teachers to fix the problem. and we will have a lot less people to support that are unable to feed themselves in a competitive environment.  Another major benefit would be the elimination of the democrat party which is required for the survival of our country.

As bad as the above video is, the Kellie Pickler "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader" clip is the one that shames me the most.

As much as I am a proponent of states' individual rights to govern themselves, I don't think they are kept in check by enough citizens who are ready to move in order to show their disgust with decisions made by said state goverments. As it pertains to education, I moved from CO to IL during my junior high years and was horrified by the difference in education levels between the two states.

I also have seen many people defect from CA to my home state of CO (presumably due to taxes, at least in part), only to see CO turned into a 'Little California' if you will.

IL's education system differs drastically from one area to another. Some are extremely outstanding and other are lacking to say the least.

This "No child left behind" law pushes the kids thru school without them learning anything. The high school kid that works for me is a great kid, loves to do hands-on work, but he can barely write his own name.

1) Get rid of cell phones and texting
2) Common sense discipline in the classroom.
3) Vo-tech no longer a dumping ground for high school problem kids
4) Year around school
5) Uniforms in the classroom.
6) Performance based evaluation of the teachers.

Stop quoting my pre-edit slop

Better yet:

Some people will never excel, no matter the system used, and no matter how many times they edit

In 20 years, the educational system will be teaching a world language consisting of picture words, but, with far less sophistication than hieroglyphs.

This will bring world unity thru a common language.

Riddle me this one batman, every time shit goes down in a foreign country(most recently Haiti)... at every commercial break, you see a charity asking for our money to help the dire situation in a foreign nation... maybe people in the US and Canada should be donating their money to a cause that benefits themselves, ie. a better funded and built education system...

I'm so sick of the billions of dollars citizens and governments give away in the name of foreign aid, it's about time we start helping ourselves.

When these faggot Hollywood types were on TV telling me that I have to give money to Haiti I found myself asking the TV aloud, "Sure, should I just make out a check for the same amount they sent to us after Katrina? ...911?"
