nah, the Coriolis Effect is stronger up north so that the flasher must be mounted on the left side instead of the right side to keep the amps from bursting thru the case of the flasher and exposing themselves

I replaced the flasher months ago and it is working fine.  It was easy enough to do once I knew what I was looking for thanks to a post and a picture from Steve.   :redfaced;
