I've been a Megadeth fan since I bought "Killing Is My Business" just 'cause I thought the name of the band and the title of the vinyl was too cool. I think I was like 10 or 11 years old...I'm 33 now. I've been hooked ever since. I've been backstage at a couple of concerts and met him twice, one of the concerts was Clash of the Titans in Chicago with Slayer & Anthrax...with Alice In Chains opening. Big mistake on someone's part having Alice In Chains to open for a bunch of Slayer & Megadeth fans...the place went nuts after they started singing and everyone started chanting Slayer. Alice in Chains got booed off the stage and for some stupid reason the guy I went their with (a DJ and promoter from Joliet, I can't recall his name) wanted to go talk with the band...they were pissed and throwing stuff all over the place and the last thing they wanted to do was talk to a DJ about it.
Megadeth was the last act, and when they came out everyone started to walk to the back of the place, I thought at first that they were leaving and I was dumbfounded. Then, they took all the garbage cans and set them on fire and started dancing around them to the music...now I was really dumbfounded. Then I think Peace Sells started up and they rushed the stage and started stage diving, I've never been to another concert that went down like that.
Meeting Mustaine is a crap shoot, he seems very moody...once he was very approachable and friendly, the next time he was giving everyone the cold shoulder. I got to see him after he had been clean for awhile & was heavy into the martial arts thing, he's a pretty tall guy to begin with and I imagine with the kick boxing he's pretty formidable. But more often than not he makes an ass of himself when he's doing something other than playing music. I watched him on Politcally Incorrect once and the subject was Bob Dole...I had to turn it 'cause he just couldn't make an intelligent remark to add to the discussion to save his life, almost as bad as the time he went to the White House. I must have over forty posters and silk flags that I've collected and just stored away in tubes of Megadeth, I always liked the artwork with Vic (though Iron Maiden artwork with Eddie is better in most cases).
Right now I'm listening to Lightfoor's the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald...I'd like hear that redone by a band like Typo-O.
