Now I'm an even bigger fan.
« on: October 13 2010, 05:29:35 PM »
I've been a huge ATR fan for years. Their new album "...For We Are Many" was released yesterday and so it's been a'cranking in the truck for over 24 hours. I was scouring the inlay and noticed that (singer) Phillip Labonte ends his Thank You list with "...and my H&K USP .45". Then, today, I visit their website and see the below photo. Then, I found this post by him on myspace. I get so proud (due to the rarity) when a musician *isn't* a lib idiot. In conclusion: buy their new disc.

Hi, I'm Phil and I'm a gun owner.
I know it seems I've been of a one track mind lately but I think that's due to the very strict laws and long and arduous process to legally own and carry a gun in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I don't ever want to break the law cause I don't want to give the state a reason to take away my license. So I jump through the hoops to make them happy. Pain in the ass.

Anyway, I thought this would give all the people who like to talk shit a little something to piss n moan about and it'll give all the ppl who think like I do a lil more food for thought. Hopefully someone who has no opinion on gun ownership will read this and think "well I don't want one, but I like the idea of people being able to own a gun if they choose".

I'm getting a little off track here but this is important, that's what we want. No one is telling you you have to own a gun, or know anything more about them than they are loud and you don't stand in front of one. But I believe it is NOT my place to tell someone how to live their life. I am pro choice, pro gay rights, pro civil liberties, and pro gun rights. I am anti patriot act, anti imperialism, anti federal intrusion. To be fair most of the people who were so fearful of new gun laws when our President was elected have been proven wrong. And the reason is cause there are SO MANY OF US, people who care enough to vote for our rights. With this anti incumbent tone in the US, the progressive agenda that the democratic party has and is looking to make lasting legislation on doesn't have the sweeping support some expected, so gun laws are FAR from the top of the list cause there are only a hand full of States that would go for it. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is from Nevada, think he's gonna get re-elected if he's pushing for stronger gun laws? Or look at it this way, think he's gonna WIN more votes talking about gun control, or the economy? Gun control, or energy concerns (gulf oil vs desert sun?) Point is, it's not a big deal to MOST people. And unfortunately, the vast majority of people who do care about gun control most have lost loved ones to guns. They are angry, and rightly so, that they're loved one was the victim of a gun crime. So they look for a way to try to make sure no one ever feels their pain again. And that makes sense when you're responding with you emotions. Responding with the pain of a lost child, brother, father. I can totally understand why people would want gun control. But having said that, I ask you to consider these reasons for NOT taking away our second amendment right to keep and bear arms.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated
------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---- ------------- -------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
-----------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
------------------------------

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED.

Switzerland issues every household a gun
Switzerlands government trains every adult they issue a rifle
Switzerland has the lowest gun related crime rate of any civilized country in the world

If you don't like guns that cool. Don't make me a criminal cause I do.

All That Remains rules. In other news, I just proposed to Jeanne Sagan via their website, I hope she responds quickly.

This is where Donna claims that KISS was the first to do this when they wrote 'Love Gun'.
