Is anybody wrenching
« on: February 04 2010, 09:42:07 AM »
If so - on what?

The Cadillac purged a transmission line last week - looks like the hose rotted on the inside and popped out of the factory crimp. I rigged it with brass hose repair barbs and copious amounts of hose clamps - then put the right replacement in. I actually found someone selling the ACDelco replacement hose on Ebay - got it for 14.00. I guess this shouldn't be surprising given the car is 18 years old.

I think I am going to try some light body work. I have seen enough episodes of Overhaulin', Trucks and MusclecarTV. :D

I am waiting for a GM service manual for the Caddy to come in - minor shit starting to break - Monir, but could be a pain in the ass - HVAC, and some electrical. Ugh

Trying to amass the parts and adapters needed to swap an LS1 in my 81 El Camino. It's all a matter of measurements I guess, so many different parts give you this or that amount of clearance.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.

I would think there would be all kinds of aftermarket kits/brackets for that swap.

I ended up running CAT5e through the house for my media server, then taking a nice ride to Harbor Freight and Northern Tool with a buddy of mine. Good time!

I scored a GM Service Manual for the Caddy on Ebay for 10.00 shipped - need to fix some niggling issues. Heat/AC mixture door not working, motor mounts, etc.

Not sure if I'll ever have the flow to get the GN out into the light of day again but I have been scheming on something lately. After my transmission explosion a few months back I got a real bad taste in my mouth for the Avalanche and would like to get rid of it. I'm looking at '73 to '87 Chevy/GMC shortbed pickups. They're cheaper than dirt to buy and fix up, they're fucking EVERYWHERE and I've wanted one for the longest time. A friend of mine had one years ago (that he wouldn't sell to me) that was dropped, had Cragars and had the tailgate and hood louvred. Man did I ever love that truck. Plus, I'm seriously tired of the payment on this Avalanche.

Worked on the ATV - oil change, filter - and new rear brakes. I need to look at the fonrt brakes and see if they need to be replaced. Of - and change the sparkplug too.

I need to change the plugs on my ATV. They are on my toolbox, I might do that this weekend. Might as well do an oil change too.

El Camino is just a shell of it's former glory. I've now realized I'm in over my head for this LS1 swap. But at least the El Camino womb is hollow now and the front clip off.

Started stripping down the Camaro motor, started getting into the harness, ECU is out, most sensors unplugged. Just gotta get the radiator out and drag it to my buddy's shop to drop the cradle from below.

Now I need:

EFI fuel tank, to be poached of 4.3 EFI El Co
GN fuel lines for the fuel
Mounts, tranny crossmember
All kinds of other shit that will nickel and dime me to death

But it's coming along!
