Read up on this. http://gnttype.org/techarea/ecmsensors/camsensor_FAQ.html  If its bad I don't think the car will start.

Caspers sells a tool/module that plugs into the car's engine harness
that sends a false signal to the ecm so you can start the car, if the
cam sensor craps out.

They also sell an alignment tool which makes it MUCH easier to set it initially.

S6, do you leave that piece on the car or do you use it then put your old one back on?
