Hank III, "Damn Right, Rebel Proud"
« on: January 14 2009, 07:28:20 PM »
Just picked this disc up a couple of hours ago and I'm already hooked. Being as III has shown some musical ambivalence in the past I've always been ready to give a new album of his a listen. From playing bass in Superjoint Ritual to this latest disc, he's illustrated that he really is a true rebel awash in the sea of airbrushed, Big N' Rich types all climbing over one another for a photo op at the goddamned "Hand Me A Trophy Awards".

All music is great as long as the musician's heart is in the right place.

The real Zap has been dead for about six years now.  What we now have is the ever diminishing resonant energy of his essence as it spreads like ripples across a placid pond throughout the hills and hollers of West Vermont into the byways and cyberways of the 21st century.

One could say that he is but a faint echo of a once vibrant being that dominated turbobuick airways.

Or one could say that he is a short, fat, fuck, I guess.

I was greatly amused by the reference to Electromagneti c Displacement- a widely accepted explanation for paranormal activity- but the image of a WV'ian with a great love for peanut brittle and RC Cola really hit the spot. I wonder when one half of the Woodzap persona will come out and finally admit that it's been the same person all along. I see through these alter-egos/split-personalities very easily. After all, it was I who blew the lid off of the secret that Garth Brooks and James Hetfield are, in fact, the same man. Think about it- "Ride The Lightning", "Ropin' The Wind". Creepy, huh?

Electromagneti c Displacement is simply an extension of the theory that states a waveform that is instigated continues forever as the energy is dissapated over an ever increasing wave front which results in a continually decreasing amplitude at any given point on the wavefront.  Eventually, it becomes immeasurable on existing seismometers, but, it is still there awaiting the next 8 bits of dynamic range.

This theory has its roots in Procol Harum who introduced the concept in "A Whiter Shade of Pale".  Many confuse this with Garth Brooks complexion when he heard her husband knocking at 3 in the morning while the Thunder Rolled

Hey StrawWood! Wanna room with Sylvan and I at Bowling Green? We're gonna take uppers so we can stay up the whole time and make Smores and tell jokes! No extra beds though, so we can all sleep in the same one...just like when we were kids! I can't wait! :supz:

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but it sucked anyhow.  :evil;
