The shippers trashed my engine
« on: July 13 2005, 06:16:29 PM »
My engine got fucked up by the shippers.

The crate wasnt even a crate. It was a pile of lumber layong on the engine and skid. Both skids were thrashed. Alot of the boards were splintered and broke. My oil tube for the dipstick is wrecked. Theres a nice gash on my new valve covers. It looks like the bracket for the ac compressor was grinded so bad that there isnt even a place for the bolt to go anymore.

The engine is in my house, I'll get pics of the damage. I didnt have my phone with me to take pics of the thrashed pallet...I rented the hoist...it started to rain and it's evpected to rain more. I had to get the engine in. I'm so pissed!

That's just sick and irresponsible. I would definitely fight to get paid on that one. Jesus- howcome seemingly NOBODY in this world can do thier job right anymore?! Was there paperwork at the time of delivery that you could note the damage/file a complaint to the driver?

It looked like someone top loaded it.

I signed a paper that said I recieved it...I looked through a little hole in the tarp that covered the engine...it looked like my engine.

Your right about the way people work these days. I talk shit at work about that all the time and never get busted. If I do something for someone it is ALWAYS to the best of my abilities. I take care of peoples shit and I've always took pride in my job. I wish everyone would be like that.

I'm pissed about the damage but it's only minor stuff.

What I'm worried about most is the oil pan. That is Nicks pan and i'm positive he didnt put a damaged pan on there. Why would he? I have to send it back to him when I get the deep pan from RJC. He aint gonna want it now.

I did my investigation itno the crating. I believe it was crated properly. I absolutly cannot see The shipper to put the engine on a trashed skid. The crate was actually made by me. I made it sturdy and crossed braced everything. The engine was put back in the same crate but when it got to me the crate was all broke up just like the skid. The engine looks like it was straped down. When I got it the straps were loose because the skid was tore up.
