Digital Dash
« on: November 01 2007, 10:27:17 PM »
Question, I have a reg GN dash in my car, I have seen the Digital Dashs which looks cool. I also am looking at a GNX Dash. I have heard that there are problems with the digital dashs.

The limited T  I had was equipped with a digital dash.  I would not recommend installing one.  You would need a different piece for the boost gauge,  unless you buy one that Casper's has reworked the speedo won't read only like 88 mph and they seem to fail on a regular basis. In the short period I owned the Limited, I had to have mine repaired twice.  Definitely go with the GNX dash.

just my 2 cents

If your making a clone,  I'd definitely go with the GNX dash.  Can't wait for the pics. :D

It's going to be hard because the GNX had Stewart Warner gauges, and personally I think the layout looked like shit.

They sold them at GNXDash.com I think, but the site is dead. They were made with AutoMeter gauges and had different options and a cleaner look. I think Chris (Tops Peed) has a fabricated dash.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.

I know somebody makes the plates for the dash, which has all different configurations ...just can't remember the name.... :smt017  I will have to ask Bryan to see if he remembers.  My mind has turned to oatmeal......

Dave (1turbo6) just put a GNX style dash in his GN. It looks decent.
I just saw a site that has original numbered replacement dash plaques for sale.
They weren't cheap though. Kirbans used to sell the rear suspension kits, but
I think he ran into some legal issues with them ( I don't know exactly).

That's where I bought mine from.  He used a variety of brand names for gauges and he didn't just set them up in the GNX style format, he would set them up pretty much anyway you liked.

I went with white faced Stewart Warner gauges in my GN.
