The only number I have for Phil is the 976- one, but I called Brian and Greg yesterday and they are -so far- in the clear. I also learned that, apparently, Greg is impervious to fire.  :evil;

How far is the fire from their homes?  I have relatives in Yorba Linda.

I talked to Phil earlier. He's as happy as a Peter-puffer can be, with all these sweaty firemen around So-Cal at the moment.

He DID say that it ruining his game though, as he can't show up to parties in a firesuit and tell everyone he 'Heard it was getting a little hot in here' while blasting C&C Music Factory.

I am safe as can be. I am surrounded by concrete. The effected areas tend to those near forests and grassy plains like areas. In reality, I live in the foothils of the San Gabriel Mountains and just about every year we have a giant fire on the mountain just above my house which would be about three to four miles away. And every year we have to close up our house tighter than a drum to keep the smoke and ash out, but this year the fires have seemed to move on to other areas.

What makes these interesting is that the fire spread from San Diego which is to the South, Malibu to the West, and Santa Barbara to North, so that is about 400-500 miles of coast line. That has the ENTIRE So Cal area in smoke and ash. All the schools have restricted physical activity due to the smoke and ash.

One things for sure, when we have a disaster and they say "Get Out!" we seem to get out and then be civil while checking into a major sports arena.  :rolleyes; I really feel sorry for all those of those people that have lost everything because some nut job just HAD to start a fire.

I have seen where folks say "Why does anyone build their house in an area where there is fire every year!?"  If you have ever been to Malibu or San Diego or Santa Barbara you would know why, but more to the point, a lot of people don't lose their property because they CLEAR THE BRUSH AROUND THEIR HOUSE!  Last year, they had a huge fire at Lake Arrowhead (another awesome spot) and there was a story of a guy who had the only house that did not burn down because he cleared the brush around his cabin.

As for Yorba Linda, there are no fires there. I work in Anaheim, right next to Yorba, so they are safe there.
