Remind me of what I need
« on: March 13 2007, 12:33:58 AM »
I'm going to go through the whole car for tune-up purposes before I take her to the smog dyno.

K&N cleaner and oil
Delco R43T's gapped at .035 (if I remember correctly)
GM PCV valve
Denso O2 sensor
Reset TPS and IAC
EGR valve gasket
Delco PF52 oil filter and oil
Can of Seafoam

I know I'm forgetting something, or a few things.

EDIT: I finally got popped for my cracked windshield, so I think I'm getting an El Camino one that has the antenna built in the glass so I can shave the pass side fender.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.

I think stock plugs are R44TS
What chip do you have ?
What year El Camino windshield are you getting.
I have the windshield Antenna in my Grand Prix, and it
gets better receptin than my GN. Go figure huh ?
Better aerodynamics too.

I also recommend some isopropyl gas line anti freeze
mixed in the gas. Alky burns much cleaner than gas does.

I have a Neal Steward chip. It's pretty much stock with a little more boost and a later lockup. Total timing is 18* I believe. AS for the El Co windshield, I'm not sure, but most have them. I'm sick of my power antenna dying all the time.

Now what's this about gas line anti-freeze? Are we talking about propane coolant? I was going to mix in a bottle of alky with a shot of tranny fluid for the test.

Just a little alky, no tranny fluid. Depending on the alky, it has a 2-9:1 stochiometric
ratio, whereas gas is 14.7:1, so it doesn't take much alky to affect things.
Eric Marshall offers an "emmisions" chip. Maybe Neal could cook one up for you. I
think Eric even has the bin file set up for download.

Probably 'cause the guy doin' the test is walkin' around with a hand whittled corn cob pipe ablaze....
