I have just been practicing songs that I know, easier because i know the beat and how it sounds.  Not too worried about how the stock pickups sound as of now but may geet some EMG pick ups down the road.

Back in the day Epiphone's were horrible, but the latest I've seen are top notch. Same with Fender's Squier series, they're getting much better.

And Sylvan's right about challenging yourself, I still try playing along to Miles Davis to piss myself off. The Bitches Brew album will make you pull your hair out.

Another quick way to learn is to find people to play with who can put up with you sucking at first. It's a quick way to learn rhythym.

My Strats sound like pianos with those damn strings.

'Optimal for detuning' my ass.

I still wanna build a custom Fender Jazzmaster.

I use D'Addario XL's 10's on my Charvel, and 009's on the rest.
I've tried nearly every brand out there, and I stayed with these
because they don't rust as fast. My hands have a tendency to sweat
more acidic than most lowering the life of my guitar strings. The
D'Addarios seem to have a higher nickel content that's resistant to it.

This may sound funny, but when I started playing I would sit and watch TV and play the theme songs and commercial jingles. They are simple and easy to pick up with the ear and provides good ear training and quick satisfaction.
2008 Charger SRT-8
2009 Challenger R/T
any questions?

Actually, I used to do that alot. I used to play some of them during gigs
as background while our singer was talking to the crowd. On occasion the
whole band would play a TV theme song in the middle of a set or during sound check. It was great for a tension breaker, or just plain fun.

Paul Stanley plays with Les Paul
1. I knew Paul Stanley was a fag, but I don't think Les Play would be down with 'playing with him'. 2. Paul Stanley is currently an endorser for some shitfuck guitar company called Silvertone/Silversomething orfucking other....some people will say anything for a dollar.

And if'n you're not playin' Dean Markley Blue Steels (11's) they may as well be shoelaces.
