Anyone Running Powermaster Alternator?
« on: September 25 2021, 10:35:44 AM »
I have used Powermaster starters & alternators in the past with good success, so I ordered a new 170a alternator intended for the Grand National.

It just arrived & I noticed the drive pulley is smaller diameter than the OEM pulley. Concerned this may negatively affect the serpentine belt tension. Haven't looked into it well enough to see if the pulleys can be swapped. The alternator has a performance test card that shows 130+ amps @ idle, but I suspect that is with the smaller pulley.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

Thanks.

It's a bit of a pain to swap the pulleys.

I suggest you get a size smaller belt if the current belt turns out to be too long.  The TTA belt is slightly shorter and I usually use it with the regular pulley but it may give you what you need.  It's a 635K6 belt.  Otherwise you can go down another notch and try that.

Steve,

I'm not finding info with that part number. Are there some letters or digits missing?

EDIT: Is this correct? https://www.gates.com/content/gates/us/en/ymm/search/vehicle/result.p.8552-000000-000001.v.8552-02890.html

Thank you.

No info? - just google the part number and you'll get all the info you need.

It's a 63.5" 6 rib belt.

Goodyear #4060635

it's a 63.5" 6 rib belt as nocooler posted.

I got 3200 results when I posted the generic number I cited :)

I was attempting to input that part number into the Gates parts search.

Have one ordered.

Thanks.
