did not work for me.  The link, that is.

When my son was swapping the drive train and wiring harnesses from his wrecked Miata to the roller he bought.  He found a bunch of crimp on connectors under the dash that were not crimped on.  Instead whoever did it, hand just folded the bare wire over and stuffed it into the connectors...n o crimp, no solder, no nothing.

For some reason, a prior owner had installed a push button to start the car with.  My son removed the wiring for it and soldered the wires back up.  When he was ready to start the car, the car started immediately but the starter did not disengage and keep running.

I spent two days on the phone with him trying to help him find out what was going on.  I could get it to work right by running a jumper wire to the solenoid but it still wanted to keep the starter engaged and running.

At 2 o'clock on Sunday morning a week ago, I had him trying to trace the wires from the ignition switch down the column to the clutch switch.  He bumped the wiper switch by accident as he was following the bundle down the column.  The car started.

He had labeled the plugs of the harness as he took it apart.  Seems that the wiper connector was plugged into the fuse block and the one from the ignition was plugged into the wiper.  I guess we know why someone had installed a push button start. Reversed the two connectors and everything worked.  Sometimes luck is more important than brains when trouble shooting.

It says it has a Stage II motor, which makes the under the hood appearance even more confusing. :O

Having grown up about 50 miles from Beaumont and depending on how long the car has been in the area, I would be leary of rust.  Let's see...


86 with hot air one piece lower air dam? Maybe has front mount...
Gooey stuff on gas tank?
Wiring looks atrocious under the hood
