When I was bracket racing 2 weeks ago, one of the nostalgia racers walked up and introduced himself. He said the racers all think it's a SBC under your hood. I said...hood's up...have a look. Sticks his head under the hood...and all I hear is...fuck. Looks at me and says we need to talk.
Here's the deal. He bought a TR from a gent that's deceased. Can't remember if it was the widow that sold it to him...estate etc. He found boxes upon boxes of NOS parts still in wrappers/boxes etc from the 90's. Some stuff is also from Kirbans and God knows what other vendors. The mods he mentioned almost make this a throwback to the 90's.
The PM was fukd...so I had him install a G body vacuum setup with SS brake lines replacing the flex hoses. Install is done...and the car should be plated this week. He has access to a hoist...so I'm gonna get pics and numbers off everything so we know what we have. I'm taking a mic...and I'll try and get a measurement of the wheel of the turbo. He says it has a FMIC...so I can't see the turbo being stock. I'll be hooking up with him Sat, Sun or Mon. I'm gonna swap in my ECM and PL...and I'll get a driving log and post it. I'll get pics of the convertor and any numbers on it...as I doubt it's stock as well. This might be a time capsule.

sounds like it may be. They pop up now and then..some of those capsules were real runners.

I have one for stock injectors and and anti-theft. It left me stranded once when the battery got a little low.

I was at the gents house yesterday...an
d was there and at the shop with it on the hoist. Too many people had their hands on this car...and it's gonna take time. money and patience to get it to where he wants it. All 3 bases are covered...so were good. His friend is a mechanic...and I talked to him yesterday. The car is being dropped off tomorrow...so here what's up next.
Coil pack is being ohm'd
Compression check
New high tension wires. I found 2 new sets yesterday.
New 43 spark plugs
Hotwire kit for the fuel pump. I found a new one yesterday.
Scanmaster. I found a new one yesterday
Fuel pressure adjusted. No fuel pressure guage...so God knows where it's at. The mechanic has one that will fit on the Schrader valve.
TPS and IAC will be set once the SM is wired in.
As I left yesterday I noticed two of the wires going into the ignition module had been hacked into...and two wires attached that went through the firewall. That will be addressed tomorrow as well.
The gent that bought the car knows the gent who passed away that owned it...and he owned it since 1989. Quite a story behind it...and it appears as if he was a huge Kirbans and Postons fan...as we found about 8 inches of receipts from them. Anyone familiar with JAYS GN PARTS?
I'll go into the history of this car and post pics a little later.

Jay's GN used to sell fiberglass bumper fillers made of out thin 2pc glued up ABS.
Can't remember what else he had after that big scare (debit cards didn't have consumer protection back then).
I'd rethink those 43's and go with NGKs. Delco plugs seem to have went the way of Delco oil filters the last few years. They've messed me up a couple times right out of the box on plain ole N/A engines. No way I'd ever try them in a TR again.

Thanks Dave. The gent had actually sent the car to Jay to be worked on. He had also bought a fair amount of parts from him as well. I've had absolutely zero issues with the 43's...from the dealer.
