they come out from the top
remove the grille panel and the speakers are held in with two phillips head screws

Yep - Use a #2 Philips bit and a 1/4" wrench to ease removal of the speaker screws.

Using one of those right angle screwdriver sure helps the process.  Hope you found some speakers with the same dimensions as the stock ones.  If not, you'll find that you may have to mount the speakers from the bottom of the dash instead sitting on the top of the dash to keep the upper dash trim plate sitting flush.  I had to do this.  Just move the nutplate from the dash to the speaker and then turn the speaker a little side ways to get it throught the speaker hole and inside the dash. Now the tricky part is holding the speaker up to the dash while starting the screws.  It was super easy doing this with the instrument cluster removed on the drivers side and with the glove box out of the way on the passernger side.  Good luck!

I can see why - they have EVERYTHING. including the hard-to-find hose barb adapters I need. :)

Kinda on the same topic. I have replaced my front speakers and am in the market for a replacement panel to go back in as my original came out in many pieces. I thought I could glue it back together but that isn't going well. It would be cool if spoolfool made a fiberglass repop but alas that isn't the case. It appears the parts place and gbody parts are the two sources. I've heard so many bad experiences with each I'm not really wanting to sent them $200 on a gamble I get what I want. Anyone have a better solution or a different place to get a panel for the top of the dash?

I got mine from gbody. I always call them first to insure they have the item in stock before placing the order. They have taken my money before on an Internet order and then only get a partial shipment of the parts that I ordered. The phone calling to find out when I'm getting my stuff gets really old

http://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/43929/REPRODUCTION+UPPER+DASH+TRIM+PANEL+%237386.html

I found it at kirbans. Little more but a better more trusted seller and it comes with free shipping so I think it might be a wash.
