Race Gas Question
« on: April 10 2016, 06:06:01 PM »
Alright. How long is race gas good for after it's been opened. I had 5 gallons of it in the tank when my GN was stolen last Oct 4th. The idiot couldn't get it running...at first...so he poured in another 5 gallon container I had in the trailer...thin king the tank was empty. When Dan and I found the car...we drained the tank...and stored it in proper gas cans. It's been sitting for 6 and a half months. Will it still be good?

Mine sits all winter and starts the next season without issue. I run 110. I just ran mine for the 1st time since September 2015. I'll run this tank for our first race this weekend.

As long as it's sealed up I can't see a problem.

Don't think it's any good past a month in plastic gas cans

if you sealed it air tight, it's probably still okay, but, I would be careful and find out before going full bore.  It holds up much better than the ethanol gas

I won't be going full bore. Prolly 22 PSI with low gear fuel pulled and some low gear timing added. It's currently snowing. Never raced with snow tires before. Might be a pedalfest this Saturday...

I would think you're fine.  Obviously it should be in a tight container with minimum air in it.  You could always pump some out and stick a hydrometer in there and see what the specific gravity is.
