I thought these were the same sensors that you can buy at a Honda dealership?  Know a few people that of done this.  But these sensors will last a long time!

We'll see how long they last with C16 every weekend. :)

One buddy's lasted 8 years on C-16!  Never missed a race at the track unless it rained or he broke something.  Milage wise it probably wasn't that much.

I've got this AFX setup here. Gonna install it in the spring. Good to hear about the longevity.

I've had mine from Honda at least 10 years & only need to recalibrate in Spring time. I have noticed even when I do the values don't go out much at all.
I have a spare I used for a couple years & it's still like new.

We carry every single replacement component on the AFX.  Controller, connectors, harness, sensors (several options), etc.  We plan to support this product for years to come, so replacement parts are not going away.

I should note that the NTK AFRM is now an in-house design for NTK that was primarily focused on cost reductions.  It is not a 2nd Gen AFX and no longer made by ECM (NTK does market it as a 2nd gen unit however). It cannot use the same sensors and has been on backorder the better part of 2015 now.  We carry all the replacement parts for the NTK AFRM. Ballenger Motorsports is the only company to offer replacement sensors for the NTK AFRM, replacement connectors, and a replacement harness.  http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/2334

In late 2014, we released the AFR500 which is identical to the AFX and made by ECM.  We felt there were excellent reasons to continue the higher quality, higher cost AFX product and now offer both products side by side.  The Ballenger Motorsports AFR500 / AFX is for the professional or serious tuner and the NTK AFRM is for the more typical street tuner / budget system.

Mike your ruining the thread! :P :icon_lol:   Probably the best wideband out there for those running race fuel.  Love mine.  Biggest issue would be the controller, the rest you can easily replace or fix.

My sensor is at least 5 years old. It's seen race gas, nitrous, and daily driving.

It's funny I've recommended it to some fbody (ls1) guys and after they install them they end up re-tuning their cars and going faster.

As a new uneducated member of the wide band user club, what is the benefit of this vs the AEM that I have and have yet to install? Will I be purchasing a new $75 sensor more often?

The ntk (honda) sensor is more accurate and repeatable than the bosch (vw) sensor. The 0-5v output on the AFX is often regarded as the best "consumer" level device.

The bosch sensor will be poisoned if you run leaded fuel, the NTK can handle it.  If you are just using pump gas the AEM will work great.

The NTK sensor will also handle a couple hundred more degrees of EGT.

They do fail eventually with a steady diet of leaded race gas but not weekly like the Bosch sensors.  As far as I know, all the aftermarket fuel management systems use NTK for the sensor.

They do cost more to replace but it's not as much as replacing a bunch of Bosch sensors.

The display is ugly but I stuff it in the glove box and read the AF's on the SM any way.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.
