Seat Belts
« on: March 26 2015, 12:35:25 PM »
My passenger front and rear seat belts don't retract very well anymore.  The webbing is in excellent shape, so i don't need to replace the webbing.

Is there someplace in particular you have used to have retraction device(s) refurbished?

How hard is it to remove the seat belts and the retractable devices from the car?  Do i need special tools?

If you open the door, do they retract like they're supposed to?

Yes.

Driver works fine.  Passenger front works 99% of the time, every so often it doesn't retract without a little coaxing.

The two passenger devices have never retracted without coaxing and basically feeding them back in.

So...I just took out the rear seat.  Which I have to say I'm kinda surprised.  It's only held in place by the two little bars towards the front of the bottom of the seat?  Nothing locks it down towards the back of the seat itself?  And it doesn't seem to seat all the way back, you can see just a little bit of the material behind the actual seat covering.

Anyways, after I pulled out the seat and tested the two retractable devices...they both work great.  It's the seat they're getting caught on.  I don't think they're angled right.  The left rear (behind the driver) is angled a lot differently than the opposite side.  I took a picture of it with the seat back in the car and you can see how the device isn't really positioned with the opening of the seat.  Is it supposed to be?

Those are not positioned properly, may not even be on the correct side of the car.  You'll need a big torx socket to remove the bolt securing the belt.  Sorry I can't remember the size off the top of my head.  The brackets will be marked with a big L and R to indicate the appropriate side.  I'll try to get a pic when I get home.  It may be later this evening.  We are celebrating my boy's birthday with dinner and such

It was a 50, got them repositioned and they work like they're supposed to now.

Thanks.
