ignition switch?

Well, I bought a relay. I did see a cel when turning the key to run. No volt light but as above, I have the caspers volt jumper as the volt light wasnt working. With the relay off, I couldnt get my meter lead to see about voltage. So I plugged in the New relay. I then turned the key to run and the pump primed(i could hear it). It started. So I grilled some burgers and ate. Watched BlackList, and went to pick my daughter up from work. Got back and tried it again. It primed again and started. Not saying it was the relay but more testing will see about it.

Hopefully that is the main problem.  If it is, then you probably have a bad oil pressure sender because it should keep the engine running as normal even if you unplug the relay

Is the oil pressure sender a common part? I will search advance, orielly and az and see. I would like to replace it as when  I started it last night it seemed to crank like it was building pressure. It did prime right away when the key was turned to run and cel came on. Then I spun it over and it started. I wasn't brave enough to drive it to work. I will do more testing over the w/e. I need to change the oil and hunt an oil leak. Might be a valve cover.

I think for $7.99 it will get replaced. It is the original switch as was the fender relay. I guess that is an upside as an original owner I know what has been worked on and what I cut up over the years.

that is a tremendous upside..altho I admit, when I am under the dash, I wonder why I added some of the wires and where they go. 

I wish GM had used a common relay instead of unique connector patterns but they did last a long time...we need an affordable kit with all new relays and check valves

Awe right, aw right , all Right in my best Matt M voice.
I had a mystery oil leak on the pass side, and now this no run condition. If we put these together we get a leaking and non functioning  4psi oil pressure switch. I couldn't figure out why the intercooler bracket kept getting a coat of oil. I hope this clears up both issues. I went a head and changed the oil and filter. When I started it up after it started with less than half the cranking it had been taking  .

Thanks so much for each and everyone's input. It is all valuable info. Off to bed so I can go back to the daily grind tomorrow and be able to earn enough for some tires and be able to race in temple in a few weeks. I already took the Friday off so I can hopefully get the trailer ready. Otherwise I'm driving it.

So true Steve! When you chase a problem for weeks & then find out it's an easy fix it makes you feel like you just won the Lottery!!!
