roller cam

So I have a short block  I am getting ready to put finish up and put in my car.
I had planned to reuse my existing roller cam and lifters should I be concerned about where the roller tracks on the lobe?
With the used cam  and roller lifters in a different block could I run into issues?
I like the cam is it a better idea to start with a fresh cam?

If you can't feel any wear with your fingernails, I can't imagine it'd be an issue.

Roller cams...are the smart play. I would never recommend running a flat tappet cam to anyone.

As long as the stars are in alignment, a flat tappet cam is not too bad. :)

For most, flat tappet cam failures can be broken down into cheap chinese lifters that are not hardened properly or improper install/break in.  I suspect using the "wrong" oil or not using some magic additive is very seldom the problem in the average street car with mild valve springs.

Buy Johnson lifters which are properly made and the potential for failure should be greatly diminished.
