Aston Martin is recalling most of its sports cars built since late 2007 after discovering a Chinese sub-supplier was using counterfeit plastic material in a part supplied to the luxury sports carmaker.

What the hell is "counterfeit plastic"?  And how does a broken accelerator cause a crash?  (even though there hasn't been one)

When you make plastic parts you start with plastic pellets whose properties are specified by the  customer. Likely these were substituted by "someone".
Asian factories tend to operate thusly - If you haven't caught me its your own fault.
