knock gauge install
« on: June 03 2013, 11:28:21 AM »
Hey guys, i installed my knock gauge, and Im not getting any lights, but my SM is showing knock.  I tapped into the yellow wire with the black stripe.  Am i missing something?  Im running the power for the backlight off of the same accessory as the boost gauge, which is the gear shifter light.  Any thoughts?

you should not power from the gear shifter lamp as that is  a lamp source and runs through the dimmer switch so it may not be 12v

also check that you have the right pin at the ecm not just yellow with black stripe but pin B7

I read the instructions(but clearly no thorough enough). Figured A B on the knock gauge was nothing more than than the backlight like the boost. Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to only post questions about things that don't come with instructions next time.

BUT, i did see that it wanted a 12 volt source, and when the car is running, its more than 12v if its on that pink/black wire(or somewhere in the fuse block).  I suppose it wont hurt it though.

good ground and good 12v (or whatever your  battery voltage is  ) and you should  be good

full scale into red is usually about 4 degree KR
not uncommon to see it light an led or two on a hard shift
