Firestone Sucks!

So the wife needed tires and CV joints on the 96 i30.
The Michelins were worn, the CV boots were torn (Zero grease), so she took it to Firestone. We had used this location for years for oil changes, tires, and repairs I didn't want to deal with. BTW - I hate working on imports.
With 120k, and the tax return coming in - I decided to not just get the boots replaced, but the entire CV joints. Of course, the price was high - but I didn't have to do it.
While they had her car, they called and said the front brakes were "85% worn, and were badly in need of replacement".
I had just done the brakes ~1 yr ago, and thought MAYBE the caliper was stuck or something, but that's doubtful, as I polished the caliper pins and used synthetic caliper grease on them. I told her to pass, I would take care of it.
I finally get around to taking a look at the brakes today, and they are MAYBE 20% worn. They quoted ~250.00 for a 4-wheel brake job.
I will be sending something to corporate too. It's a goddamn shame they try to rip off people like this. If I hadn't been home, she probably would have authorized the repair out of fear..
Pic #1 - In this pic, you can see me holding up a new pad versus the ones one the car. I circled the middle vent for comparison, These are the same brand pads. Remember, the new pad is a few inches closer to the camera than the installed pad, making it look a bit bigger.
Cliff Notes:

Its sad to say, but I see stuff like that all the time. I can't tell you
how many times I've had customers who've either been to a
discount chain for an LOF, or just passed a state inspection in
our shop, and then went to the discount service facility, and have
that shop tell them that their vehicle requires various services.
Then they return mad wanting to know why we hadn't told them.
Next I end up wasting time bringing their vehicle into the bay, to
show them that there isn't anything wrong with it. Many of those
type of shops have some sort of commission program and/or pay
their tech flat rate. As a result it gives them an extra incentive to
sell as many quick paying jobs as they can. I won't mention the name
of a company that I once worked for, but I will tell you that
because of programs like I mentioned many services that were sold
to customers were never performed. I didn't partake in these
practices myself, but some of my peers did. I've seen cars where only half
of the spark plugs were changed because it would take too long
to change all of them. Some vehicles that were charged for wheel alignments
never made it on to the alignment rack ! I couldn't stand
working there, so I ended up quitting. Luckilly for many
that establishment is no longer in buisness.
