First real drive of the season
« on: May 13 2012, 04:42:31 PM »
Yesterday I drove to Wendy's Mom's & back which is just over 200 miles round trip.
I was only out a couple times this year for 1/2 hour cruises but yesterday was stop & go in the city & then 65-70 all the way there & back. Just outside Niagra Falls so with it all 3 lane now its a good drive. The gas guage was pegged after I filled it but after an hour it came alive again & looks to be where it should with just over 1/2 tank. The cruise isn't working for some reason but it was when I parked it last year? Probably a fuse that went with the blower fuse that melted. I just popped in a fuse & didn't clean up the fuse block yet. The AC needs a can of R-12 from my stash but otherwise it all felt pretty good. I do have a light vibration at 60mph but 65-70 is fine so I stayed there!    Think the front tires may need some attention? Altho I didn't even check air pressure since BPG so that may be an issue?? As I was driving the lighted hiway signs kept saying that Proper Air Pressure gets better mileage so maybe it was a Hint directed my way.
I never floored it but at 3/4 throttle I was catching up to traffic pretty quick!  :player:
Now i remember why I like this car so much! The Denali is definately smoother but the Buick is Fun!! Time for some fresh plugs & BPG here I come!!

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

The first half hour I was nervous driving it since it's been almost 6 months. Then when I gave it some gas I got a Deer in the headlights look on my face I think??  :O
I must be getting older or this car is getting faster!! At first i was going about 50 then 60 then 70 & it was quick enuf for me! It's almost like driving a new vehicle each spring because I forget how quick it will pick up speed! Gotta love these old Hotrods!! Keeps the blood flowing once your back behind the wheel. Actually I'm glad it gets parked for winter because it's like a new experience each year!

glad you had a good run.
i love taking my car on my 5.5 hour round trips to Philly.
Most talk about having thick skin but thats just BS.
This damn attitude of "you didn't listen to us/me now you should burn in hell for it" really sucks.
