Cleaning engine compartment
« on: May 23 2012, 02:13:30 PM »
Got car soda blasted to remove original paint. Problem now is engine bay is COVERED in white dust. Compressed air aint doing the trick. I really want to avoid using water but dont think I have much of an option at this point. If I do resort to this option, it would be sparingly with a hose using a misting sprayer. Any specific places I should try to wrap with plastic first or are there just way to many to cover??

Thanks!!

I would cover up the coil pack and module connections

Then I would blast away.  When you are satisfied, blow dry it with the compressor.  If it is very greasy, spray some cleaner on it before blasting it

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

You could use a diluted degreaser and a soft brush to loosen the grime up, then use a controlled stream of water to wash the gunk away.

Cover the TPS & module as mentioned then go at it. I've done mine many times over the years & never had a issue. An old toothbrush & some cleaner works wonders.
