I'm more worried about the cut on the lobes so #3 exhaust doesn't wipe.

Does the block need to be modded for the setup? What does it involve?

What would a stage II long block minus the heads & intake bringt?  Never bored, a dozen passes, 3/8"(?)...something about being one of the indy motors, a Siemens?  Has the cam, crank, etc...but it needs heads & intake.  

I have been offered one...but the price seems steep to me.

No. Everything bolts in.

Gordy, as for the stage block. There are a few variations, so the price
also varies. Unless you're planning on 9's or faster, they're just not necessary.
