Mr. Wood, how have you been? Its been a while!
Anyhow, your post seems to be right on time for me. I am looking for a TE44 replacement. I seen a place online that has them for 599, but not sure if I should even go with another. The price is excellent, but im just not sure. I need some advice sir! :) Oh yeah, I am back in the St. Louis/Belleville area, pcs'd back in Feb, but im settling in ok.

Charles....It is good to see you again.  You move around more than a vacuum cleaner salesman!  Phil said that, btw.  :D

the TE44 is my favorite turbo for the street.  See my upper 11 second combination at the bottom of this page

If you are running alky, you want the hd actuator.  If you are not, then you want the standard actuator as you might be on the edge of detonation with the hd at the lowest possible boost you can adjust it too.  Some get by, some don't.

If you buy the turbo and actuator together, it will come with an adapter so that the actuator bolts on to the turbo directly with no hassle.  If you use your old one, you will have to modify the bracket a little...or use only one bolt which I have done.  this is because the the compressor housing on the TE is slightly larger in diameter than the TA housing.

Thanks for the response Steve.
I will look at getting a new 44 then. I think I need a new TC b/c the old one didnt spool anything like the stock turbo and the old TC that was on the car. I dont know if I need an actuator. My car still has that turbonetics deltagate on it. Thinking of them, I did see some of those turbos also and they looked NICE. Wife just called.
