I suspect, realistically, realistically suspect?? oh, well, most of the design goes into stuffing the largest unit into the available space. I think people have figured out that low pressure drop is the most important facet.
In theory a slic should catch a lot less flow than a front mount...yet they perform virtually the same until one hits 700+ hp from what I see....the challenge would be to design smaller, not larger...but, when you spray alcohol, you take a lot of magic out of an intercooler anyway
we get caught up with bigger is better whether it is intercoolers, ics, downpipes, or turbos and ignore evidence to the contrary. Market hype is more prevalent that actual data.
