..Except China and India.

Thta's because in China the children are raised that it is their duty to do good in school. Then they can get a good job and care for their parents when they get old.
It's all about taking care of the family and everyone their is involved in the process.
Teachers care about their work and feel it's their duty to provide a good education to the kids.
There it's about Family and Duty

That is excellent Chris. It is nice to see some teachers still care. I know down here there are a few, and then there are some who don't care. Since you are in the Chicago area, then you would be aware of Dist. U-46. I think it is or was when I was going to school, one of the largest districts outside of Chicago.  That is where I went to school.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Boy is that ever true.  I left teaching for a while and owned a couple of businesses, chasing after the dollar.  They weren't enterprises I cared about, just lucrative businesses.  I made twice as much money, but I was miserable.   At my age, the kids think of me as a surrogate grandfather.  I get lots of love, attention, and respect.  I'm happy.

The Good Humor truck is my summer job, but I manage to bring a lot of ice cream to school throughout the year.  :D

Obamas' speech at Arizona University left no doubt in my mind that the US education system is in the dumpster. Cheering as the victims names were read out?
How grossly uncouth was that? I'd have expected better at a Mid-High School assembly. IMO it shows a sense of entitlement among those college age pukes. It's all about them right?!?
