Try having to reverse-engineer a goddamned Whirlpool dishwasher sometime. Loads of fun and you get the bonus of being all wet and filthy. It's a horrible world under the counter.

Just put a new pump assembly in our Kenmore. Probably the same dishwasher guts. $150 on e-bay vs around $200 from Sears. Turned out it was just plugged up with crap....bones and chunks of old detergent.

I currently have a huge backlog of car repairs.....bl own HG on 98 Subaru...again, blown HG on Saab 9000 CSE turbo from last weekend, lost 3rd and OD in the 4L60E tranny in the truck. Worked on the mixing door for the HVAC on one of the other Saab 9000 Aero's. Still have to swap interior on the other 9000 Aero and finish parting out and junk the 93 9000 CSE. My driveway looks like we're having a party all day, every day.

The whole rotating assembly (impeller, etc.) was pretty much disintegrating and the float was stuck sideways so it wasn't bringing in water...plus I had to solder the copper feed pipe after screwing with it so much. All in all I was out $53 to an appliance part warehouse in Albuquerque. not too bad money-wise, but what a pain in the ass!

I learned while living in Maine something that I'm not sure many of our members here are aware of...in New England you can't throw a rock while blindfolded without hitting a fucking Saab. Those things are right *beloved* up there. I had a friend who used to be a regular Chevy guy and then got started on those damned Saabs...curren tly I think they have a 9000 and two 900s, one of which is an SPG (?). What's the deal with the "overboost" on those cars? They had me drive one of the 900s once and I asked permission to really throttle the thing and it was like the whole car died. I thought for sure I had just killed their motor.

Sounds like you got away cheap on the DW.

Saabs are everywhere around here. The overboost deal....I think it cuts out the fuel pump if you peg the boost. I believe the main culprit is either rotten vacuum/boost hoses or stuck BPC valves. There's abunch of small hoses and they go everywhere. I've never has the problem on any of my 9000's (five so far) but I'm aware of the issue. I like the 9000's. They're comfy (especially the Aero seats), they handle like they're on rails and they're pretty quick (especially the 5 spd Aeros). The automatics are kinda dogs but the second gear rush on the Aero 5-spds is amazing...almo st GN-like. They have timing chains instead of belts, which is nice. They come with all the bells and whistles and most of them work, most of the time. Plus I get 35 MPG hwy with the 5-spd cars if you keep your foot out of it. Overall I get 30 MPG. Plus the Harmon Kardon sound kicks ass for an older factory system. 900 SPG's are supposed to be one of the Saab enthusiast cars. I've only driven a couple of 900's and I wasn't that impressed. The other nice thing about 9000's around here is that you can buy a $40,000 car for cheap money, as long as you can do your own maintenance. I don't know how people afford these things if they have to take them in. There are a lot of indy mechanics around here that specialize in Saabs and Volvo repairs. You can make a living just working on those if your good. On my street there are (5) 9000's, a couple of older 900's and a guy who has (2) of the old 93's (I think) , the old streamlined rounded 2-stoke ones. I got the climate control fixed on the 97 Aero, next item is the HG on th 97 CSE and fix the rear door latch on the 94 Aero.  :confused;

Probably one of the few socialist-build cars out there that don't look like the Trabant. Of course, they may not be built much longer. Most of the newer stuff is generally regarded as crap. The 9-5 was a sludge factory. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole. The seats are still nice, though. I'd like to get a set of Aero seats and have them re-upholstered in GN black and gray and put them in the old G-body. The seats in the GN are some of the worst I've sat in. They downright suck.

Gah - just checked - upper dog-bone motor mount is broken on the Caddy - AGAIN. I may as well replace all the motor mounts - They ain't cheap though - they are "liquid filled" or some shit.

It's warm out and everybody's driving their toy cars but me. Sucks.
