I remember reading an interview with Adam D. (Killswitch Engage, genius producer) in which he was asked, "You've said that you hate emo bands but went on tour with a few of them, why?" His response: (I'm, of course, paraphrasing) "I know that if I get drunk and talk some shit and a fight ensues...I'll win." I love Adam D.

I consider EMO as one of those lame passing phases
of music like disco. It'll be around until somebody gets pissed off and
makes something new and cool to replace it.
