Last night I went to KISS at the Soboba Casino in Hemet, Calif. I got to see a one of a kind show for sure.
It took me about 3 hours to get to this fucked up place to see a concert. As I am waiting on a two lane highway for an eternity I see a bunch of fire trucks and an ambulance zooming toward the "arena" (more like a fancy cattle pen). KISS is scheduled to go on at 8:00 and I finally get into Buford's field to park at about 8:15.
NICE! I am going to miss a few songs after sitting in THAT! So as I get into the Cattle Pen I see that KISS has not taken the stage yet. So I am thinking,
"Well, that's pretty cool that they are waiting for us all to get in" Finally, at 9:30 Doc McGhee KISS's manager comes out and tells us that TSM Girl's own Paul Stanley has taken ill and was rushed to the hospital. :bigeyes;
Gene Simmons then takes the mike and says that Paul had a heart rate of 225 and on his way out on the stretcher told Gene to play. So Gene asks the crowd if he wants them to play. Of course the answer is yes and they played.
This was one of the best shows I have seen. At the very last minute they had to completely re-do their set list. Gene said that after 34 years he could remember the lyrics to any of Paul's songs so they were only going to do Gene's songs. This meant they were only going to do some really old songs which was pretty cool since those are the ones I know anyway. Gene kept apologizing for making mistakes in the songs, but I don't think anyone really noticed.
Not surprising that KISS would be the most professional band in the land.
