My good deed this weekend
« on: June 26 2006, 04:13:54 PM »
So my buddy Tom (NM Tom on tbs) swung by on Saturday to get under my car with me. When he got to my house I had some other company there. There's a customer of mine named Jason who recently decided to get a foster kid. This kid's name is Matthew and he's 16. I don't know Matthew's story, but if he's in the foster system, something's not going right in his life and he obviously could use some positive influence. Jason had asked if he could bring Matthew by my house to look at my car because the kid shows interest in hot rods, etc. I told him 'sure'. Tom's car is real strong (he'll be pulling 11's as soon as he gets some slicks on that beast) and he recently upgraded to a PT67. I asked him for a ride and the thing pulls like a freight train. Well, Matthew was real quiet and akward. I asked Tom if he'd mind taking this kid for a spin and Tom was happy to do so. I figure a 'troubled youth' is much more likely to get caught up in drugs and other stupid shit like that, so it would be really cool to encourage the car hobby. Well, the kid who didn't say much and seemed really shy got out of Tom's car with the biggest ear-to-ear smile I've ever seen. That made me real happy. I heard that after Jason took him home, Matthew didn't shut up about GNs for over an hour. Who knows- sometimes all it takes is a little positive influence like that to have a big impact on a 'troubled' kid's future decisions.

sounds like my first ride. dad asked the guy to take us for a ride (seeing as my dad cant drive it cause its too small for his 6'7 lanky ass. he dident feel like cramming in. so i was inthe back, we cruised for a little while b4 doing a massive burnout. from then on i was sold, on that thing. and now look at me, i got it all blown up in the drive way... no drugs for me after that all these broken parts. haha

Yep. I think there's been about a million "Rememeber your first ride in a GN?" threads, but suffice it to say, I *too* was giggling like a girl when I went for my first ride in one.

My first ride in my first TR wasn't a pretty one. It was a beat up piece o' crap (I paid 3k for it ~8yrs afo).

It was popping, belchin', and fartin', but I loved it. I still ahve it to this day. (Kinda sorta)
