PL data has me leaving the line at 3000 in 3 seconds. Let's see what it does with the blanket on it.

Found a post from Patrick Rubio...who's forgotten more about turbos than anyone will ever learn. He says if you can contain heat then it will help with spool up. Keep the blanket away from the feed and center section for air cooling.

Something to consider
Turbo Blanket - Bad Idea?
Starting to read up on these. First red flag I see is one maker recommends not using it for a daily
driver
, saying when you park the car the blanket works so well retaining the heat that you start cooking the
oil
and such and as a result shorten the life of the
turbo
.
From the website.....
-------------------------
As these Blankets are designed to retain heat within the turbo, it is recommended that the blanket be removed for
vehicle
"Garaging" as retaining the heat without the water/oil circulation may cause long term reduced life for the turbo (this is particularly relevant when used with non-water cooled plain bearing units.
----------------------------
What do you experts think?
Reason I ask is that there is no doubt with the STS it spools quicker when warmed up. From my testing it's about a 400rpm difference. I can
live
with it but if there is something easy with no negative effects I can do to make it more consistent I would like to do it.

Soon, put it on right before the burn out, take it off after the run. Easy.

The real goal is to retain the heat in the exhaust stream. To do that you need to coat the inside of the housing.

Does hold the heat. We have one
BUT I was told she needed it by Russ. Melissa brings up the boost to 1 or 2#s then bumps the first light. We have a new class at the drags here where it's an instant green. Bumps the 2nd light an she is ready to go !!
