Jim & Mike's Excellent Adventure (road trip home)
« on: May 28 2006, 10:47:04 AM »
I'll start from the beginning (Atlanta).

I had a friend (Ryan) pick me and me son up at 6:45am at the house to take us to the airport. He also use to work for AirTran..this work great. When we got to the airport the line was all the way to the back hallway. Their computer system took a dump so they were running late. Ryan called his friend (Manager) and got us listed for the flight, he then got us passes to get to the gate. He did this all while we waited in line and finished before we got to the counter. When we went thru TSA, they alerted on my tools in my bag. No, biggie I thought I had read their site and was good to go...NOT. TSA lady said she would have to measure every tool, she saw that I had a ATL badge. Told me to exit sercuity and go thru the employee gate with bag...Done.
Called Rob and setup Dinner date when we got to BOS  :rofl; I had a great time..my son said that we were at dinner longer than we were on the plane..lol but he did like Rob. I think we could have chatted all night, but he had stuff to do and I greatful that he made the time to come out  :supz: .

Dan pickup us up in the morning around 9am...son is slow in the morning. We left most of our stuff in the hotel(mustly the stuff Rob gave me) I fingured we would pick it up on the way back. Took 10 minutes to get to his house. Spent about a 1 1/2 with Dan, talking about car and just stuff and got to met his wife. I got I pic of Dan and me, pormising that I would not post it on the net. He had show me the way out on the way there..OK looks easy...LOL Took me and the Son 1 hour to get back from Dan's...hmm I think I see a problem.....We packed up the car and were on the road by 1215. I had all ready called Fred C. (FC227) about stoping and seeing him on the way. He works for Moroso in CT and it's right off the freeway and he lives .5 miles from work..We got there about 2:20pm, not bad, but he needs to leave at 2:30. We got to chat for a couple of minutes, met his wife and son. We got a pic of the 2 cars together (will post pic later) We stop got gas and food and got back on the freeway..77 miles to NY state line, 77 miles late we are looking for our exit and can not find it..then I really start noticing the signs..Provide nce Downtown...OH CRAP I'm in R.I....Damn it I went North on 95 when I got back on the freeway from Freds..Traffic is really getting bad, I also forgot it was a holiday weekend...
Now we are turn around the right way...We hit NY and it's bumper to bumper traffic..I had planned on making it to N.C. to my morther-in-laws..about 800 miles (12 hours). After 14 hours of driving I'm only just south of Baltimore...at one point 145 miles took me 3 hours..it's 1am stoping for a hotel. Now I need to still stop and see my mother in-law..in hot water if I don't. While looking for a place to eat in the morning I run across a mustang with skinnes up front, cowl hood and DR's on back..time to play..he,he,he. I pull beside him an give it 1/2 throttle (10psi boost) I slow back down and wait for him..guy wouldn't even look at me. Some Gn must have eatten him alive....lol.  Traffic really didn't get any better untill south of Richmond. We made it to mothers work at about 5 pm...crap 7 hours of driving and still 6 1/2 more to go. Mother narced to wife about having to buy more alky and I have to go to her house and pick-up stuff...great more delays. On the way to her house a ricer and mustang pass me racing..hmmm time to play  :evil; great we get caught at a light, ricer in right lane mustang in left with me behind him. As soon as I see the light getting ready to change I start spooling the car. Green light and I have to ride the brakes so I don't rear end the mustang. he passes the ricer and moves over to the right lane..3/4 throttle and I blow past him..he,he,he. I slow down and wait for him to catch up and he wouldn't play any more :rofl; .. ricer drives by and I see him say Muther F*cker..Damn.  LOL ..Son enjoyed it..shhh don't tell mom..
Rest of the drive was no biggie..home by 1am and in to work at 8am this morning..OK now it's time to dial this thing in.

You are lucky your bud took care of you on that one or else you would have missed the flight!!!  Fricken AirTran did the same to me and I missed my flight   - no friend to help me out.

I remember the day I went with Deb to bring Mike to catch the bus he missed...lol.. .burnout from hell!

I'm glad everything worked out well. You even made it to work on time. You always amazed me on how you can deprive yourself of sleep and keep on going and going.....
