Lo and behold...Dan and I found a broken valve spring today when swapping in the new ones. Finish dressing the engine tomorrow...and drop it in Thursday.

These engines take a helluva hit when overboosted... and that's why I have the heads milled and install new valve springs.

I overboosted an engine a few years back...and twisted the DS head into a pretzel...and softened the valve springs so badly I floated the valves at the next event.

Sorry Steve! LOL!

Okay...the puck assembly is welded up and moving as smooth as silk. Jason calls for 1/16th clearance for the shaft to 'clean' itself...so that's what we gave it.

Next up is the muffler shop in the morning to stretch the test pipe a tad to fit over the DP smoothly.

I would be pulling the pan and checking the rod bearings. Take the bearing out and measure it to see if it was pounded from the over boost at max rpm. Just and easy check for peace of mind.

Kevin, I overboosted an engine far worse than this a couple years back. Dan and I checked the bearings...and they were fine.

Engine is being dropped in tomorrow. I picked up a WB bung and cap...and installed the WB gauge on the dash in my line of vision. Stopping by the muffler shop today and grabbing new studs and nuts for the crossover. Changed 'em when the engine was out 2 years ago...but I'm anal about zero pre turbo exhaust leaks.

Hopefully you can log that WB02 with your PowerLogger.  Remember to convert the output to Lambda!

Joe...with the exception of one broken valve spring...all seems well. Car returns to the track next Friday nite.

Joe...did you figure out your boost issue?

Dan and I dropped the engine in this morning. Only thing left is the crossover pipe...starter and convertor bolts...and a few things up top. Finishing it in the morning and trailering it home Sunday morning. We have another TR coming in Monday morning that needs the transmission pulled. It never ends...

Fired it up this morning...and all's well. SM numbers are bang on. Nothin' to do...so we pulled the trans on the other TR. The builder was aware it was fukd from day 1...so let's see if he does the right thing.

A quick thanks to Dan for the use of his shop and his help. Without Dan, Joe, and the support and help I receive on this board, I couldn't do what I do. Thanks to all.
