Tuning
« on: September 08 2015, 12:28:44 PM »
Started to get ready for track day 9-27, been making a few test passes. Want to try to get in 11's on the street tires, my 60 ft are usually in the 1.9 range. First gear fueling I'm down to 117 on Eric's chip and have timing advanced 2 settings. Scanmaster is all I have for tuning ( I know PL is better) but in full runs, lowest recorded O2's are 800 in the 95mph range. My question is I think I will end up maxing out fuel reduction in 1st and still be rich? If so then what, keep adding timing in 1/2 gear parameter?

You'll need to get that 60 foot down.  Are you able to see what the O2's are in low gear?  I think Brad had his down lower than what you have but he as a PL to log the run.

I trapped a 7.58 1/8th mile on MT ET streets at 16 PSI.  Launched around 20 pounds of boost and got a 1.59 60 foot.  I was too rich on the top end but it still equates to an 11.9.

Good luck!

Guessing is never a good idea. Without PL...you can't tune low gear. I dial my low gear fueling in on what I see at the 1-2 and 2-3 shift points. I also throw a whack of low gear timing at it...but how much...depends on the boost level I'm running...and I run race gas...which lets me get away with murder.

If you're running alky...then Erics 5.7 chip has aggressive mode. With alky you have to adjust the turn on point. I had mine come in around 13 psi. What I did was go to the track...and have it come on at 8...and then with each run after that had it come on 1 notch later till I saw KR...and then backed it down 1 notch. You also have to adjust the volume of alky at the traps...and that will also vary on boost level.

Get yourself a used pair of 28x9s...or some 28" DR's.

Shoot for 780 for 02's at the traps.
Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don't last, but BAD GUYS do!
